Rack and Pinion Jacking Systems

We have delivered Rack and Pinion systems for jack-up drilling units and well servicing units since the early 1980’s.
Our recent achievement is the introduction of the new generation of Rack and Pinion system with a Variable Speed Drive system.

Hydraulic Jacking Systems

Over the years, we have developed several hydraulic jacking systems for different applications.

- Single acting hydraulic jacking systems are our sturdy, cost-effective system.

- Double acting hydraulic jacking systems are developed for the units where the jacking speed is to be improved.

- Continuous hydraulic jacking systems are the latest GustoMSC development.

Cranes around the leg

We have been delivering large offshore cranes, such as the 800 ton crane for the "Challenger", since the early 1970's. The next building boom was the large construction semi-submersibles around 1980. We designed and licensed the cranes to be built for the Hermod, Balder and DB101, ranging from 3,000 ton to 5,000 tons.

Today, additions to the construction fleet are in two directions:

- The 3,000 to 5,000 ton cranes for the offshore construction market
- The 500 to1,200 ton cranes for the offshore wind turbine installation market

We designed and licensed the cranes to be built for the Hermod, Balder and DB101, ranging from 3,000 ton to 5,000 tons.

X-Y Cantilever System

We developed the patented X-Y cantilever, integrating the derrick and drillfloor to the cantilever. The complete cantilever will skid in longitudinal and transverse direction.

The X-Y cantilever enhances both drilling efficiency and capacity:

- Drilling efficiency as drillfloor and cantilever are integrated
- Capacity as the combined hook load is constant over the hull footprint

Fixation Systems

We added the patented fixation system to our CJ series to improve water depth and environmental capacity. With the fixation system, a rigid connection is created between the truss work legs and the hull.
We deliver the fixation systems to our jack-up units on a turnkey basis.

Telescopic Gangways

We have designed and delivered several telescopic gangways or Personnel Transfer Bridges. The latest gangway was delivered to Chevron for Compliant Tower Tombua Landana field Angola.

Our gangways are of all steel construction, hydraulically driven and capable of slewing, luffing and telescoping. They are operated by a joystick from the operator’s cabin.

Equipment

We deliver associated equipment to our proprietary designs on a turnkey basis, this includes various types of offshore cranes and engineered products.

The associated equipment for the jacking systems depends on the application of the jack-up.
For truss work legs, the rack and pinion systems are selected. Recently we have enhanced these systems with a better drive system, now using “Variable Speed Drives”. This allows for much smoother operation.

For tubular legs or welded plate legs, hydraulic jacking systems with the pin-in-the-hole principle are applied.
The single acting systems will be used for straightforward robust system requirements. These systems are selected for standard operations whereby lifting speed is not a number one priority.
If there is a lifting speed requirement of over 0.5 m/s, we have developed a double acting or continuous hydraulic jacking systems.

Traditionally, GustoMSC has been involved in the design and engineering of large heavy duty offshore derrick cranes, such as the cranes for the Hermod, Balder and DB 101.

In recent years we have undertaken an extensive review of the design in such a way that we can now offer these cranes turnkey. At the time of writing, 4,000 ton and 5,000 ton cranes are under construction.
In the lower segment, we have concentrated on pedestal cranes for the wind farm installation market.

These cranes range from 500 to 1,200 tons. Two categories of pedestal cranes can be distinguished: the standard pedestal cranes and the cranes fitted around the leg. The latter have a significant advantage as they have one leg less in their way during lifting operations. Moreover, they create more usable deck space, as the crane is mounted on the jack house.

Among the equipment portfolio we have items such as the leg fixation systems, X-Y skidding systems, telescopic gangways, Active Heave Compensation systems and hose reel applications. More
